The School of Cybersecurity and Privacy at Georgia Tech is proud to recognize the accomplishments of five doctoral students who finished their doctoral programs in Spring 2025. These scholars have advanced critical research in software security, cryptography, and privacy, collectively publishing 34 papers, most of which appear in top-tier venues.

Ammar Askar developed new tools for software security in multi-language systems, including a concolic execution engine powered by large language models. He highlighted DEFCON 2021, which he attended with the Systems Software and Security Lab (SSLab), as a favorite memory.

Zhengxian He persevered through the pandemic to lead a major project with an industry partner, achieving strong research outcomes. He will be joining Amazon and fondly remembers watching sunsets from the CODA building.

Stanislav Peceny focused on secure multiparty computation (MPC), designing high-performance cryptographic protocols that improve efficiency by up to 1000x. He’s known for his creativity in both research and life, naming avocado trees after famous mathematicians and enjoying research discussions on the CODA rooftop.

Qinge Xie impressed faculty with her adaptability across multiple domains. Her advisor praised her independence and technical range, noting her ability to pivot seamlessly between complex research challenges.

Yibin Yang contributed to the advancement of zero-knowledge proofs and MPC, building toolchains that are faster and more usable than existing systems. His work earned a Distinguished Paper Award at ACM CCS 2023, and he also served as an RSAC Security Scholar. Yang enjoyed teaching and engaging with younger students, especially through events like Math Kangaroo.

Faculty mentors included Regents’ Entrepreneur Mustaque Ahamad, Professors Taesoo Kim and Vladimir Kolesnikov, and Assistant Professor Frank Li, who played vital roles in guiding the graduates’ research journeys.

Learn more about the graduates and their mentors on the 2025 Ph.D. graduate microsite.

Competitive Programming Team Excels at Meta Hacker Cup and Regional Competition

admin

Tue, 03/25/2025 - 21:20

The Competitive Programming team has once again demonstrated its competitive edge, dominating in both the Meta Hacker Cup and the 2024 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) regional competition. Under the guidance of Abrahim Ladha from the School of Computing Instruction and club presidents Marianna Cao and Raymond Bian, the team’s success highlights their dedication, teamwork, and strategic preparation.

Meta Hacker Cup Success

Nearly 100 Georgia Tech students participated in the Meta Hacker Cup, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for competitive programming on campus. This prestigious competition, held in multiple rounds, saw impressive performances from several Georgia Tech participants:

Maxwell Zhang (username “smax”): 7th place internationally in Round 2, 125th in Round 3

Sunghyeon Jo (username “ainta”): 8th place in Round 3, 13th overall

Kevin Shan (username: “kevin”): 185th in Round 3

Marianna Cao (username: “mariannacao”): 169th in Round 3

Weiyu Chen (username “cwystc”): 304th in Round 3

Daniel Chang (username “DanielChang”): 157th in Round 3

To advance to the final round, participants must place in the top 25 out of 500 internationally. Jo excelled, finishing 13th in the finals.

“I’m grateful to the club members for their dedication and effort—we’ve all put in a lot of hours, and it’s great to have that shared commitment. Their energy and enthusiasm keep competitive programming at Georgia Tech strong,” Cao said.

ICPC Regionals Triumph

The team also made waves at the ICPC Regionals, with 15 Georgia Tech teams competing at Middle Georgia State University and securing four of the top 10 spots in the southern region.

The competition tasked teams with solving complex problems within a five-hour window, using just one computer per team. This format demands technical expertise, strategic thinking, and seamless collaboration. Typically, contests feature 11–13 problems, requiring innovative algorithmic solutions while balancing time and resource constraints.

The top Georgia Tech team—comprising of Weiyu Chen, Kevin Shan, and Xieting Chu—solved all 13 problems, placing second in the region and third nationally.

“There’s a big difference between someone who scores a 99 on an exam and someone who scores a 100. If you score a 99, that was the best you could do. If you score 100, it’s because there were no more points on the exam to earn. Our best team solved 13 problems because the contest only had 13 problems,” Ladha said.

Two additional Georgia Tech teams also earned medals:

Maksim Krylykov, Daniel Chang, and Nguyễn Minh Nhật

Raymond Bian, Jon Wang, and Marianna Cao

Cao emphasized the importance of practice and teamwork in their success.

“We held weekly meetings with lectures and problem-solving sessions and added weekend training as ICPC approached. It was intense but effective,” she said. “With only one computer per team in the competition, we took turns coding while others worked on problems or debugged on paper.”

Building a Thriving Community

Cao’s journey with the Competitive Programming student organization began in her first year at Georgia Tech. While initially intimidating, the experience proved to be transformative.

“It was intimidating at first because everyone was so smart. But they pushed me to grow,” she shared. Now, as co-president alongside computer science major Raymond Bian, she’s proud of how far the club has come.

“This semester has been one of our most active. It’s inspiring to see so many people excited about competitive programming,” she said.

Together, Cao and Bian have worked hard to make the club accessible and engaging. From attracting members at club fairs to creating dynamic lectures, they’ve focused on fostering an inclusive community.

Cao also credited Ladha for his unwavering support. “His enthusiasm and encouragement have been a huge morale boost for all of us.”

Their efforts have paid off, with unprecedented participation this semester. New members actively attended lectures, engaged in discussions, and competed in events.

“It’s been amazing to see the community grow and thrive,” Cao said. “Seeing a room full of people excited about something nerdy reminds me why I chose to be part of competitive programming in the first place.”

Looking Ahead

The team plans to host a large-scale programming contest at Georgia Tech this semester, aiming to further engage the campus community.

For students interested in joining, the club meets weekly on Thursdays from 5–6 p.m. in Van Leer Building room C240. A beginners’ workshop is also planned for later this semester.

Stay updated on club activities by following them on Instagram: @gtcompetitiveprogramming.

The demand for AI education is clear, and Georgia Tech, along with the new OpenAI Academy, is poised to meet this need by offering opportunities and resources to advance public knowledge in this emerging field.

This exciting new partnership between Georgia Tech and the OpenAI Academy is aimed at advancing AI education. This collaboration is part of the academy's initiative to create a publicly available, free online resource hub designed to support AI literacy and provide access to essential tools, best practices, and peer insights for effective and responsible AI use.

The OpenAI Academy, which initially focused on in-person programs for developers and technical users, is now expanding its reach to a broader community. This includes educators, students, and small business owners. The goal is to unlock new opportunities for learning, economic mobility, growth, and innovation by empowering more people to confidently use AI.

The new online hub will feature an expanding library of on-demand content, including educational materials created by partners like Common Sense Media. In the coming months, the academy will continue to grow its offerings, adding new resources and in-person AI literacy workshops. These workshops will be hosted in collaboration with higher education institutions such as Georgia Tech and Miami Dade College.

As part of Tech AI Fest 2025, Georgia Tech hosted an AI literacy workshop Tuesday, March 25. This event was Georgia Tech’s premier AI gathering, bringing together researchers, industry professionals, policymakers, and students for discussions on the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The workshop, held at the East Architecture Building, provided hands-on learning experiences and showcased the practical applications of AI in various fields.

The partnership between Georgia Tech and OpenAI Academy underscores Tech's commitment to advancing AI education and ensuring that AI literacy is accessible to everyone. By participating in this initiative, the Institute aims to provide learners with the confidence and skills needed to thrive in an AI-powered economy, ultimately benefiting local communities and fostering innovation.

Cybersecurity Team Wins $2 Million in Grand Challenge Semi-Final

dgivens8

Tue, 08/20/2024 - 13:21

For three days, a cybercriminal unleashed a crippling ransomware attack on the futuristic city of Northbridge. The attack shut down the city’s infrastructure and severely impacted public services, until Georgia Tech cybersecurity experts stepped in to stop it.

This scenario played out this weekend at the DARPA AI Cyber Challenge (AIxCC) semi-final competition held at DEF CON 32 in Las Vegas. Team Atlanta, which included the Georgia Tech experts, were among the contest’s winners.

Team Atlanta will now compete against six other teams in the final round that takes place at DEF CON 33 in August 2025. The finalists will keep their AI system and improve it over the next 12 months using the $2 million semi-final prize.

The AI systems in the finals must be open sourced and ready for immediate, real-world launch. The AIxCC final competition will award a $4 million grand prize to the ultimate champion.

Team Atlanta is made up of past and present Georgia Tech students and was put together with the help of SCP Professor Taesoo Kim. Not only did the team secure a spot in the final competition, they found a zero-day vulnerability in the contest.

“I am incredibly proud to announce that Team Atlanta has qualified for the finals in the DARPA AIxCC competition,” said Taesoo Kim, professor in the School of Cybersecurity and Privacy and a vice president of Samsung Research.

“This achievement is the result of exceptional collaboration across various organizations, including the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), industry partners like Samsung, and international academic institutions such as KAIST and POSTECH.”

After noticing discrepancies in the competition score board, the team discovered and reported a bug in the competition itself. The type of vulnerability they discovered is known as a zero-day vulnerability, because vendors have zero days to fix the issue.

While this didn’t earn Team Atlanta additional points, the competition organizer acknowledged the team and their finding during the closing ceremony.

“Our team, deeply rooted in Atlanta and largely composed of Georgia Tech alumni, embodies the innovative spirit and community values that define our city,” said Kim.

“With over 30 dedicated students and researchers, we have demonstrated the power of cross-disciplinary teamwork in the semi-final event. As we advance to the finals, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, and I firmly believe the resulting systems from this competition will transform the security landscape in the coming year!”

The team tested their cyber reasoning system (CRS), dubbed Atlantis, on software used for data management, website support, healthcare systems, supply chains, electrical grids, transportation, and other critical infrastructures.

Atlantis is a next-generation, bug-finding and fixing system that can hunt bugs in multiple coding languages. The system immediately issues accurate software patches without any human intervention.

AIxCC is a Pentagon-backed initiative that was announced in August 2023 and will award up to $20 million in prize money throughout the competition. Team Atlanta was among the 42 teams that qualified for the semi-final competition earlier this year.

Circle of Sisterhood’s Mission of Supporting Women

Circle of Sisterhood’s Mission of Supporting Women

admin

Tue, 10/17/2023 - 20:40

Georgia Tech’s sororities may be known for supporting each other in their individual groups, but they also come together to support women and girls around the world.

Most recently, their philanthropic efforts led to the development of a school in Cantón La Soledad, Guatemala, that will provide education for 67 students — half of them girls.

For Anna Andani, seeing the school open was the culmination of years of effort among her peers.

“I am so proud of our community for funding the school build, as we have been able to assist the next generation of students in receiving the education they deserve,” said Andani, a business administration major who serves as vice president of Philanthropy for the Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC). The group had planned to send Tech students to Guatemala for the build, but travel advisories made it impossible. Instead, the money raised for travel was used to fund an Enroll Program Grant for the Cantón La Soldedad community.

“This grant will ensure the community has resources to maintain school enrollment and attendance by providing families with micro-loans and food insecurity resources,” Andani said.

This is the second school that Georgia Tech students have supported. In 2018, a group of 18 Tech students traveled to Senegal to construct a school. CPC, which is composed of nine sororities on campus, uses its Circle of Sisterhood philanthropic arm to support these educational efforts.

Now, CPC turns its attention to its third annual Circle of Sisterhood Holiday Marketplace. The event features women entrepreneurs as vendors and is set up in time for holiday shopping. The group is currently accepting applications for vendors for this year’s event; submissions close Friday, Oct. 20. All proceeds from the event benefit the Circle of Sisterhood Foundation and future projects that provide educational opportunities for women.

“I look forward to this event every year,” said Andani, who is organizing it this year. “I am thrilled for all the awareness it will generate for Circle of Sisterhood and our women entrepreneurs. Our work shows that, regardless of race, ethnicity, or any other factors, we are one sisterhood and together we can uplift and empower women and girls all around the world.”

This year’s Holiday Marketplace is set to take place Sunday, Dec. 3, from noon to 4 p.m. at Tech Green, and is free to attend.

While it’s just one afternoon, to Andani, the event is emblematic of the community Tech students have built for each other.

“Throughout my time at Georgia Tech, the work I have been able to do with the Collegiate Panhellenic Council and Circle of Sisterhood has been empowering for me as a woman and a Tech student,” she said. “Coming in, I didn’t really know where I would fit in or how I’d be able to express my passion of advocating for women and education. Knowing that there are women in our community who not only support and empower one another but also those around the world is so comforting and has made my journey here so much more meaningful. I hope everyone can find a community like this and participate in initiatives that help make a difference in the lives of others.”

Members Take Action Through Three Working Groups

Last November, more than 50 Institute faculty, staff, and students gathered for the initial meeting of the Georgia Tech Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council (GTDEIC). The campus representatives were appointed by President Ángel Cabrera, and the group was tasked with monitoring and assessing the Institute’s progress toward becoming a model campus community for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). In the months ahead, it will also submit recommendations to Cabrera and the Institute’s executive leadership team for consideration in developing strategic actions.

Enhancing diversity has been one of Cabrera’s top priorities. “Our Diversity and Inclusion Council is one of several action steps announced this past summer to deliver on our promise of inclusion,” Cabrera said in 2020. “As outlined in our new strategic plan, we are striving to remove barriers to access and success, and to build an inclusive community where people of all backgrounds have the opportunity to learn and contribute to our mission.”

Since that initial November meeting, the GTDEIC has launched three working groups comprised of Council members and issue-area experts from across the campus: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan; Campus Climate Assessment; and Covid-19 Impacts on Faculty.

“A diverse and inclusive campus is an empowered and engaged campus,” said Archie Ervin, vice president for Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and GTDEIC chair. “A focus on diversity helps improve productivity, recruitment, and retention. Through these working groups, we will address immediate areas for DEI improvement.”

Pearl Alexander, executive director of Staff Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement and GTDEIC vice chair, added, “One of our groups is crafting a comprehensive DEI plan that will be a blueprint with actionable strategies for implementation within the next five years. Another is redesigning our climate assessment to align with Institute goals for culture transformation, while the third is addressing the impacts of Covid-19 on women faculty and faculty of color. Each working group’s co-leads are working methodically and inclusively to identify strategies that will close gaps and deliver the greatest DEI impact possible. There will be many opportunities for leading, modeling, and living our values to make significant and lasting change.”

The Working Groups

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan Working Group is developing a blueprint that mobilizes the DEI-related objectives of the new strategic plan, which include: amplify our impact, champion innovation, connect globally, expand access, cultivate well-being, and lead by example. The group will work across three focus areas: creating an inclusive and equitable community; recruiting, retaining, and developing a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff; and supporting innovative and inclusive scholarship and teaching. The final draft of the blueprint will be submitted to Cabrera for review by the beginning of June. The group’s efforts will be supported by Georgia Tech Strategic Consulting (GTSC).

“Diversity today unlocks innovation tomorrow and creates unlimited opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff,” said Rashaad Owens Sr., GTSC consultant. “I believe Georgia Tech is poised for a brighter future with its renewed commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the new strategic plan.”

The Campus Climate Assessment Working Group will be led by Keona Lewis, associate director of Institute Diversity Research, and Joseph Ludlum, assistant director for Academic Effectiveness.

“One of the most enlightening tools we have for identifying racial and gender disparities is our campus climate survey,” Lewis said. Originally developed between 2011 and 2013, the survey has provided valuable information on individual and community experiences and their impact on people’s sense of belonging at Tech. “Over the past eight years, we have used what we have learned to address issues such as racial discrimination and bias and the lack of opportunities for the professional development of women staff — and launching Leading Women@Tech, the Inclusive Leader's Academy, and workshops to address bias in hiring promotion retention.”

The group’s goal is to create new research questions to capture data needed to measure the strategic plan’s DEI goals as well as the impact of current initiatives and programming. The Campus Climate Assessment group has formed three sub-teams for survey revisions: faculty, staff, and students. “This will allow us to measure our progress on achieving many of the new DEI objectives in the strategic plan through an exploration of the lived experiences of the Georgia Tech community,” Lewis said.

There are many reasons to be concerned about the short-and long-term impacts of Covid-19 on the well-being and advancement of faculty. “Data strongly suggest that the pandemic might exacerbate existing structural inequities in academia, as the burden of caregiving, differential access to resources, and mental health challenges exact a higher toll on women and underrepresented minority groups,” said Dana Randall, ADVANCE Professor for the College of Computing. “For this reason, the ADVANCE Professors formed this working group to develop a systemic approach to mitigating the impacts of the pandemic on the well-being and career progression of women faculty at Tech.”

“The overarching themes and outcomes we expect from a working group are twofold,” Kim Cobb, ADVANCE Professor for the College of Sciences, added. “First, our effort will aim to prevent the impending loss of women and underrepresented minority faculty from Georgia Tech, either through recruitment elsewhere, negative tenure or promotion outcomes, or by choice due to dissatisfaction with current working conditions and opportunities for advancement. Second, we will aim to improve the well-being and support for those faculty most negatively affected.”

The Covid-19 Impacts on Faculty Working Group will be co-chaired by an ADVANCE Professor and another member of the GTDEIC, with approximately 10 additional tenure-track faculty members. Specific areas the group plans to tackle include: campus climate and workplace satisfaction, promotion and tenure, retention, and the coordination of research and activities around Covid-19 and its impact on faculty.

“Establishing the GTDEIC represents the Institute’s commitment to engage all sectors of the Tech community,” Ervin said. “By identifying opportunities to achieve our aspirations for an inclusive community, and by demonstrating our value to be a community that thrives on diversity as a critical element of campus culture and climate, we are doing just that.”

HyTech Racing Wins at Formula SAE Competition

HyTech Racing Wins at Formula SAE Competition

bwaye3

Tue, 08/02/2022 - 10:45

HyTech Racing, Georgia Tech’s student-led electric racing team, placed third overall at the Formula SAE Electric Competition hosted at Michigan International Speedway. The competition challenges students from around the world to engineer the best performing electric formula race car.

This was Formula SAE Electric’s most competitive year yet, with 58 collegiate teams. HyTech’s 386-pound vehicle bested teams from other world-renowned engineering universities including McGill University, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

“Building a fast car requires a tremendous amount of innovation,” said Brendan Bassett, HyTech Racing president. “Members actively participated in all parts of car construction, including experimental circuitries, material characterization, and computational fluid dynamics.”

Formula SAE Electric competitions are not just car races. They involve a lengthy review process to ensure complete safety and compliance. Each team competes in two different types of events, static and dynamic. In static events, teams defend their vehicle costs, compete in supply chain and business case scenarios, and present and defend their designs to industry leaders. After passing all static events, team vehicles compete in the dynamic portion of the race. Cars compete for the fastest time on straight-line acceleration, skidpad, autocross (single lap), and endurance lap (22-lap) events.

This season, HyTech took on both ambitious design targets and an aggressive project schedule. Students from different disciplines cooperated to find creative solutions on a tight timeline.

“Our members put in countless long nights debugging and interfacing the vehicle’s subsystems in the Student Competition Center and at the MRDC parking lot,” said Bassett. “In the end, the team was able to produce a fundamentally competitive vehicle that delivered winning track times consistently.”

Next year, with the ever-evolving level of competition, the team will pivot to a four-wheel hub motor powertrain architecture, said David Knight, incoming chief engineer for the 2022-23 academic year. “This quantum leap in design complexity is necessary in order to unlock the full performance envelope of an electric race car.”

What Not to Wear: Commencement Edition…and Other Tips For Your Graduation Day

bwaye3

Thu, 04/21/2022 - 14:44

With Commencement right around the corner, many of you already know what you’re going to wear. Some of you may have planned your outfits months ago. (Hopefully you've at least taken your regalia out of the plastic to let the wrinkles fall out.)

There is no official Commencement dress code, but for those who are still scrambling for picture-perfect attire, here are some practical tips to help dress and prep for the big day.

Spring 2025 Commencement is a rain or shine event. Graduates and guests are advised to monitor the weather forecast and dress as needed. Each ceremony is expected to last between one to two and a half hours. For directions between venues throughout the weekend, visit the Georgia Tech map.

Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony Schedule

Commencement Dress DO’s:

Leave bags at home. If you must have a bag, make it clear. Commencement events at both Bobby Dodd Stadium and McCamish Pavilion are subject to the venue’s clear bag policy. See the full policy at ramblinwreck.com/clearbag.

Travel light. This will save you the hassle of carrying a bag at all or leaving your bag at bag valet. If you’re wearing a dress or skirt, try to find one with pockets to carry small items such as keys or your phone.

Dress comfortably. You may be at the event for up to three and a half hours. The event will be a combination of standing and sitting, so make sure you’re dressed comfortably enough for both. Bachelor’s and Ph.D. graduates will process in front of the stage as their names are called, so be sure you can walk in your shoes. If you’re wearing pants, consider lighter colors to contrast with your regalia. If you’re planning to wear heels, consult the “don’t wear new shoes” section, and consider a low heel (and that you’ll be walking on artificial turf).

Suggest that your guests dress business casual. Although there is no dress code, many guests like to dress up for this special day. Parents and alumni can often be seen donning Tech colors and gear, and sometimes international guests wear their country’s traditional dress clothes. Tell them about the clear bag entry policy so they, too, can plan accordingly.

Whatever you choose to wear, the photos you take will be around for a while, so pick something you won’t mind seeing a few years down the road. When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with white and gold.

Commencement Dress DON’Ts:

Don’t think that because you’re wearing a robe it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing underneath. Throughout the day you’ll be taking numerous photos, and you may at some point want to take off your regalia.

Don’t wear new shoes. Commencement is not the day to break in new shoes. Another tip: Don’t wear high heels if you are not used to walking in them. On your walk across the stage you should be focusing on the moment you’ve been waiting for during the past four (or five) years, not worrying about tripping.

Don’t spend too much time styling your hair. Keep in mind you’ll be wearing a graduation cap for a few hours. If you’re planning an elaborate hairstyle, try it out with your cap before graduation day to make sure that the cap still sits properly.

Don’t make your mortar board too epic. Remember that someone has to sit behind you, and if you adorn your cap with anything 3D, try to keep it no more than an inch or two off the board.

Don’t forget your regalia. Make sure you have your cap, gown, tassel, cords, and stole (and hood, for graduate students). There will not be extras at the venue, and regalia is required for participating in Commencement. And, don’t wait until Commencement day to unwrap it. Take it out of the plastic, make sure you have it all, and hang it up to let some of the wrinkles fall out. If you’re feeling ambitious, give it a steam. (Learn more about how to wear regalia.)

Other Commencement Tips:

Set an alarm, especially for morning ceremonies. Doors will open one hour before the start of the ceremony. Graduates should report to the venue 45 minutes prior to ceremony start. Set your alarm and have a buddy system to make sure you wake up. (See the full Commencement schedule).

Charge your phone. Bachelor’s and Ph.D. graduates will scan a virtual name card (StagePass) as they process to have their names called, and you will want to find family members after the ceremony. Master’s graduates will scan their StagePass during their college ceremony. Bring a phone with a full charge. Pro tip: take a screen shot of your StagePass before you arrive. Better yet, print your StagePass and never worry about your phone’s battery life. (Learn more about how StagePass works.)

Stay hydrated and take a bathroom break before you arrive. Try to be well-rested, fed, hydrated, and prepared to sit through the ceremony.

Plan in advance where to meet your guests after the ceremony. There will be no formal processional in or out of the venue. Suggest a specific meeting spot beforehand, even if it’s not in the vicinity of the venue, to ensure you are not lost in the crowd and can find family members to reunite easily.

Send your guests parking information. Note available parking areas at commencement.gatech.edu/venue-parking.

Most importantly, remember to enjoy the day and reflect on all that you’ve achieved at Georgia Tech. Congratulations, graduates!

Winter Student Organizations Fair

Winter Student Organizations Fair

bwaye3

Mon, 02/14/2022 - 17:10

This February, the Winter Student Organizations Fair will feature 140 of Georgia Tech’s Registered Student Organizations and provide an easy way for interested students to connect with activities on campus. Visit the Winter Organizations Fair event on Engage to RSVP and learn more.

Students can look forward to two days of organization tabling for the Winter Fair. Both days of the fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tech Walkway. Each day will have about 70 organizations broken into categories:

Wednesday, Feb. 9
Academic, Arts, Competitive, Competitive Sports, Greek organizations, and Honor Societies

Thursday, Feb. 10
Civic Engagement, Cultural, Recreation, and Religious/Spiritual

Download the CORQ App and present it at the Student Engagement Tent during Winter Org Fair to receive free hot cocoa and a cookie!

If you're looking for a particular organization, check out this link to see which organizations are tabling and on which date.

Studies have shown that students who are involved on campus have higher success in the classroom and post graduation, and are ultimately more satisfied with their undergraduate experience than peers who aren’t involved in an organization or other activity outside the classroom.

It can be overwhelming to get started. Here are a few tips for students about getting involved and participating in the Winter Org Fair:

Try something new. College is all about new experiences. With hundreds of organizations on campus, you can step out of your comfort zone and join something you may not have previously tried.

Don’t overwhelm yourself. Don’t try to join every single organization you come across. Find the ones that you are genuinely passionate about and go from there.

It’s never too late to get involved. You don’t have to be in your first year or first semester to get involved. If you didn’t get as involved your first couple years at Tech, jump in now.

It doesn’t have to be hard. Be adventurous — go to the Org Fair, go to open club meetings, and use the resources that Tech provides. If you need support finding a place to start, you can always reach out to the Center for Student Engagement for advice.

Summary sentence
