Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race

When: Friday, July 4, start times vary

Where: From Lenox Square to Piedmont Park

Over 52,000 participants will pack Peachtree Street for the 56th annual running of the world’s largest 10K. The route from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park will be lined with spectators and more than a dozen entertainment areas. For viewers who want to cheer on the runners, stop by one of five 'cheer item' pickup locations around the route.

Experience Atlanta’s vibrant culinary and art scene with seven tastings across five stops on the Beltline, the multi-use trail encircling the core of the city that is expected to be completed by 2030.

Double Play: Stars of the Gridiron and Diamond

When: Open daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: College Football Hall of Fame

The College Football Hall of Fame’s newest exhibit highlights the athletic phenoms who made a name for themselves on the gridiron in college and on the field in Major League Baseball. On display through October, the exhibit features exclusive artifacts and immersive storytelling elements.

Atlanta Braves vs. Baltimore Orioles

Georgia Tech will be closed on Thursday, July 4, to celebrate Independence Day. Additionally, while the campus is open Friday, July 5, classes will not meet.

For those in town, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the holiday and long weekend around Atlanta.

Stone Mountain’s Fantastic Fourth Celebration

July 1 – 7

Named among Reader’s Digest’s list of America’s Most Spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks, Stone Mountain Park will host shows through Sunday, July 7. Each night, the park’s Music Across America Drone and Light Show, featuring immersive lighting, flames, lasers, and 250 color-changing drones, will be followed by a patriotic fireworks display.

Braves vs. Giants

July 2 – 4

Truist Park

Celebrate the holiday with America’s pastime as the Braves host the San Francisco Giants at Truist Park. First pitch in Thursday’s game is 7:20 p.m. Along with postgame fireworks, fans can enjoy the CMT Hot Prospects Concert Series at the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage in the Battery for a Fourth of July-inspired performance.

The Braves' homestand continues with a series against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies from July 5 to 7.

Southern Spirits at the Southern Museum

Wednesday, July 3, 7 – 10 p.m.

The Southern Museum, 2829 Cherokee Street Northwest Kennesaw, GA

Coinciding with the city of Kennesaw’s Salute to America, this 21+ event includes admission to the Smithsonian-affiliated museum along with specialty food, drinks, and live music.

Enjoy the Peachtree Road Race

July 4, start times vary

The world’s largest 10K is back for its 55th running as 50,000 participants will make their way from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park. Viewers lining the course can stop by one of six stations handing out items to help cheer on runners, including hand clappers, thunder sticks, and bells. Billed as the “Party of the Summer,” the number of live entertainment stations throughout the route has been doubled for 2024.

The time has come once again to celebrate our nation’s independence. In addition to local fireworks displays across the state, backyard barbeques, and time spent relaxing by the pool, there are plenty of special events taking place around the city this holiday weekend.

Look Up Atlanta: Saturday, July 1, 5 p.m.

Centennial Olympic Park is the site of the largest fireworks show in the metro area, and the celebration of all things Atlanta kicks off the holiday weekend on Saturday, July 1. Along with a performance from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the event will feature the inaugural Georgia Talent Showcase allowing up-and-coming artists to perform on the Look Up Atlanta stage. Vendors will line Appetite Avenue, promoting the city’s culinary scene.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race: Tuesday, July 4, start times 6:25 – 8:30 a.m.

The 54th running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race will begin on Tuesday morning at Lenox Square as 50,000 participants blanket the streets. Even if you’re not running, you can be a part of the iconic event by lining up along the 6.2-mile route. You can cheer on the racers from any point throughout the course –– ending at 10th St. and Charles Allen Drive near Piedmont Park — including from three entertainment areas featuring local DJs and bands. If you’re looking to get involved on race day, registration for volunteer opportunities remains open.

Independence Day With the Gwinnett Stripers: Tuesday, July 4, 7:05 p.m.

The Atlanta Braves will be in Cleveland on the Fourth of July, but you can get your fix of America’s pastime at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville as the club’s AAA affiliate hosts the Omaha Storm Chasers. A fireworks display will follow Tuesday’s action, and the patriotic-themed jerseys worn during the game will be available via online auction.
